Stainless Steel
Machining all grades of stainless steel is a core competence at MWDT — and the foundation of our semiconductor, oil & gas, medical, and aerospace work. Our 5-axis centers and cobot automation deliver precision and repeatability at speed, from free-machining turned parts to tough, corrosion-resistant grades that work-harden under the tool.
Grades We Machine
303 — free-machining
Sulfur-added for clean chip-breaking and fast cycle times; ideal for high-volume turned fittings and components.
304 / 304L — the versatile all-rounder
Balanced corrosion resistance and strength; the default austenitic grade for general fabrication and weldments (L grade).
316 / 316L — superior corrosion resistance
Molybdenum-enhanced for marine, chemical, medical, and semiconductor service; 316L for welded and electropolished assemblies.
17-4 PH and martensitic grades — high strength
Precipitation-hardening 17-4 for aerospace, valve, and pump components; machined in the annealed condition, then age-hardened.

Applications & Finishing
Stainless parts we routinely produce include precision flanges and vacuum components (semiconductor), valve bodies and downhole hardware (oil & gas), surgical-grade components (medical), and corrosion-resistant fluid parts (instrumentation, geothermal).
Finishing through our affiliate Anodic Process Technologies includes passivation (restoring the protective chromium-oxide layer), electropolishing (for medical and semiconductor smoothness), electroless nickel/tin plating, clear chromate, and alumina/yttria ceramic coatings — so you receive machined-and-finished parts from one source.
